There are many ways to install Gaphor. The simplest is to download the official installer for Windows or macOS. For Linux you can install Gaphor using FlatHub. You can also use Python's built-in `pip` tool as long as you have all of the required dependencies installed.
If you're a developer, you can find the source code on GitHub.
Note: Sometimes launching the app the first time after installation fails due to macOS security settings, please attempt to launch it a 2nd time if this happens. Right click (Ctrl+click) on the icon to bring up the context menu and open it from there.
Note: On macOS Mojave and later, you’ll have to grant permission to run Gaphor via the System preferences panel. For further assistance, see Apple support.
To install Gaphor in Linux use install Flatpak, if it’s not on your system yet. Flatpak allows us to provide Gaphor for all Linux platforms.
Once Flatpak is installed, install Gaphor:
$ flatpak remote-add --user --if-not-exists flathub https://dl.flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo $ flatpak install --user flathub org.gaphor.Gaphor
If you have the latest stable version of Python installed and the Gaphor dependencies installed, you can also install Gaphor using a wheel from PyPI.
If you don’t have the latest stable version of Python and the Gaphor dependencies installed, follow the development environment setup instructions section and instead of cloning the repository, create a virtual environment, and then execute the following:
$ pip install gaphor $ gaphor
